It is a pretty well-known fact that Land Rover has become a brand of choice for the rich and famous. Take one good look in People magazine and you are sure to see a celebrity driving their new Land Rover vehicle. Recently we heard about one Jamaican reggae star whose old Land Rover is being resurrected in his memory. Of course, we are talking about Bob Marley.

The man's name is almost synonymous with the term Reggae, so we are going to go ahead and assume that Houston drivers have some familiarity with him. Bob Marley owned a 1877 Series III Land Rover Defender which has been decaying in the Jamaican sun and rain for decades. Now, Sandals Resorts and ALT Automotive in Montego Bay are working to restore the vehicle to its original condition.

"It is a tremendous honour to help return such an extraordinary automobile to its former glory. This project has been a long time in the planning and we can't wait to play our part in history," said Adam Steward, CEO of Sandals. "…There are few people in the world who Bob Marley hasn't inspired through his music at some point, so it is only right that we ensure his legacy continues to inspire for many years to come."1

The Defender will have to undergo a total rebuild and is currently being taken apart piece-by-piece so it can be repaired and put back together. We can't wait to see what the final product will look like.

Perhaps if you were behind the wheel of a new Land Rover, you will be inspired the same way Bob Marley was when he was writing and performing all around the world.
