In England a few lucky kids between the ages 11 and 17 will be getting the opportunity of a lifetime, ultimately making all kids here in the Houston, Texas area extremely jealous.  Our British automaker is putting these kids behind the wheel of a brand new Range Rover Evoque and teaching them proper off-road driving techniques.

This idea is fantastic to us here at Land Rover Houston North, but before you call us crazy for encouraging our brand in spoiling some kids rotten by letting them control a new SUV, let us explain.

The program, titled "Start Off-Road," will be like a driver's education, and the kids will not be on their own, with a licensed driver having dual controls on the passenger side in case of any problems.

A course will be set out to teach proper off-road driving techniques, with activities that will help the kids learn steering and driving techniques, reversing and slalom skills, climbing and descending hills, crossing ditches and ridges, driving in ruts and mud, and water crossings.

This opportunity will help teach safe driving and definitely create some Land Rover fans in the lucky few selected.  Children are our future, so it is great to see our brand working to help out some kids, but in reality we wish they would allow some of us adults take a crack at the off-road course.

I guess it all makes sense that these kids will be given the opportunity, because us licensed drivers have the option of taking the same vehicle for a test drive.  If you are interested then stop by our showroom and take a spin in the new Range Rover Evoque or any of the vehicles we have in our inventory of new Land Rover SUV's.
