One of the many reasons drivers choose to buy a new or used Land Rover is so they can handle anything that life throws at them.
Towing, transport, and the ability to deliver large amounts of torque from a dead stop make the Land Rover the perfect choice for those who don't know what challenges each day will bring. That is exactly why members of the Amboseli Trust for Elephants in Kenya choose Land Rover.
A hot day this past October at a National Park in Kenya; rangers responded to reports of a distressed female elephant. When they arrived on the scene they found that the mother elephant's 8-month old calf had fallen down a well. She was panicking as she was not able to get her baby out herself, but the rangers intervened.
They distracted the mother and moved her away so they could approach the calf and attempt to tie a rope around it. After 30 minutes of struggling in the mud, two men were able to harness the young elephant while another ranger attached the rope to the bumper of a Land Rover. The rangers put the machine in reverse, and the calf was free in moments to join its mother on the savanna. Without a Land Rover on the scene, there is a good chance that baby elephant would not have survived that well.
Even though the chances of you needing to rescue an elephant in North Houston are pretty slim, this is just one example of how your Land Rover can be put to good use.
