As we look back on another incredible year for Land Rover, it is undeniable that this year's MVP out of the current lineup was the Range Rover Sport. Soon after being debuted at the NY Auto Show by none other than Daniel Craig; this SUV went on to set the world-record for the fastest time of any production vehicle up Pikes Peak. On top of all of that, the Range Rover Sport has won a bevy of awards, the latest of which is the title of "Four Wheeler of the Year" awarded by Four Wheeler magazine.
To earn this latest achievement, the Range Rover Sport had to beat out tough competition from other brands. Models like the Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel, the Cherokee Trailhawk, and the Toyota 4Runner all had to take a back seat as the Range Rover Sport skidded into first place.
John Capa, editor-in-chief of Four Wheeler magazine, commented on the recent award, saying, "Our testers appreciated the 510hp, nearly 12 inches of ground clearance, 10-11 inches of wheeltravel at each corner, and a 0-60 time of 5 seconds flat. Add a traction control system that allows the driver to make use of these impressive specification on- and off-road, along with a plush interior with all the amenities and you have our 2014 Four Wheeler of the year, the Range Rover Sport."1
If nothing else, this award should signal that it is time to give the Range Rover Sport another look if you are considering purchasing a new SUV in the near future.
