We asked neighborhood mom, Elizabeth Maddison her thoughts on the new 2017 Discovery Sport with her growing family of soon to be four. She's a busy sushi restaurant entrepreneur in Kingwood and Conroe and is searching for the perfect luxury SUV for her growing family.
Land Rover Houston North: What are your favorite features of the new 2017 Discovery Sport?
Elizabeth: My daughter is two years old with a second baby on the way and our first priority was finding an SUV that keeps my family safe. We really loved finding out that it has a 5-star NCAP rating. We considered other SUVs, but found issues and we did not want to take any risks.
Another favorite of mine is the moonroof. My daughter loves looking at the sky and really enjoys going through the car wash with the moonroof. It just makes it feel a lot more spacious and open.
Land Rover Houston North: Did you find it was easy to unload and load car seats and strollers?
Elizabeth: There's nothing worse than not having enough room in the back seat to unbuckle and buckle car seats. The legroom adjustments in the back seat is an amazing feature that helps out so much. We don't get any kids kicking the back of our seats! I loved the LATCH system which made it really easy to install the infant seat. I am six months pregnant in summer - the last thing I want to do is struggle with buckling in kids.
Sometimes you can lose trunk space in SUVs when you have so much legroom, but that's not the case with the Discovery Sport. It has plenty of room to fit my Stokke double stroller, diaper bags, totes, and even groceries with it.
Land Rover Houston North: Was there anything in particular that you loved about the interior/drivers seat?
Elizabeth: One important factor, the need to adjust my car seat according to the size of my ever growing belly! Even adjusted to a very comfortable position, there's still plenty of room for my daughters legs. (cont. below)
I really find the speed limit indicator very helpful. I think sometimes I have enough other distractions going on and this is a really nice feature that really comes in handy more often than I ever imagined. Also, I cannot live without a backup camera!
Land Rover Houston North: All in all, would you recommend a Discovery Sport?
Elizabeth: Oh yes! I am really an anti-minivan mom and love the sporty style and how logically designed it was with families in mind. The Discovery Sport is really flexible for seating kids and car seats. It's perfect for long road trips with the cargo space and legroom too. We love knowing that our kids are safe and comfortable.
